    Both crows and ravens have appeared in a number of different mythologies throughout the ages. In some cases, these black-feathered birds are considered an omen of bad tidings, but in others, they may represent a message from the Divine. Here are some fascinating crow and raven folklore to ponder.

Crows sometimes appear as a method of divination and prophecy.

In some mythologies, crows are seen as a sign of bad things to come, but in others they are considered to be messengers from the gods.

Crows often appear as trickster characters in folklore and legend.

Although crows and ravens are part of the same family (Corvus), they’re not exactly the same bird. Typically, ravens are much bigger than crows, and they tend to be a bit shaggier looking. The raven actually has more in common with hawks and other predatory birds than the standard, smaller-sized crow. In addition, although both birds have an impressive repertoire of calls and noises they make, the raven’s call is usually a bit deeper and more guttural sounding than that of the crow.

Ravens & Crows in Mythology

In Celtic mythology, the warrior goddess known as the Morrighan often appears in the form of a crow or raven or is seen accompanied by a group of them. Typically, these birds appear in groups of three, and they are seen as a sign that the Morrighan is watching—or possibly getting ready to pay someone a visit.

In some tales of the Welsh myth cycle, the Mabinogion, the raven is a harbinger of death. Witches and sorcerers were believed to have the ability to transform themselves into ravens and fly away, thus enabling them to evade capture.

The Native Americans often saw the raven as a trickster, much like Coyote. There are a number of tales regarding the mischief of Raven, who is sometimes seen as a symbol of transformation. In the legends of various tribes, Raven is typically associated with everything from the creation of the world to the gift of sunlight to mankind. Some tribes knew the raven as a stealer of souls.

Native-Languages.org says,

"In Native American folklore, the intelligence of crows is usually portrayed as their most important feature. In some tribes, the crow is conflated with the raven, a larger cousin of the crow that shares many of the same characteristics. In other tribes, Crow and Raven are distinct mythological characters. Crows are also used as clan animals in some Native American cultures."

Some of the tribes with Crow clans include the Chippewa, the Hopi, the Tlingit, and the Pueblo tribes of the American Southwest.

For those who follow the Norse pantheon, Odin is often represented by the raven—usually a pair of them. Early artwork depicts him as being accompanied by two black birds, who are described in the Eddas as Huginn and Munnin. Their names translate to “thought” and “memory,” and their job is to serve as Odin’s spies, bringing him news each night from the land of men.

Divination & Superstition

Crows sometimes appear as a method of divination. For the ancient Greeks, the crow was a symbol of Apollo in his role as god of prophecy. Augury—divination using birds—was popular among both the Greeks and the Romans, and augurs interpreted messages based on not only the color of a bird but the direction from which it flew. A crow flying in from the east or south was considered favorable.

In parts of the Appalachian mountains, a low-flying group of crows means that illness is coming—but if a crow flies over a house and calls three times, that means an impending death in the family. If the crows call in the morning before the other birds get a chance to sing, it’s going to rain. Despite their role as messengers of doom and gloom, it’s bad luck to kill a crow. If you accidentally do so, you’re supposed to bury it—and be sure to wear black when you do!

In some places, it's not the sighting of a crow or raven itself, but the number that you see which is important. Mike Cahill at Creepy Basement says,

"Seeing just a single crow is considered an omen of bad luck. Finding two crows, however, means good luck. Three crows mean health, and four crows mean wealth. Yet spotting five crows means sickness is coming, and witnessing six crows means death is nearby."

Even within the Christian religion, ravens hold a special significance. While they are referred to as “unclean” within the Bible, Genesis tells us that after the flood waters receded, the raven was the first bird Noah sent out from the ark to find land. Also, in the Hebrew Talmud, ravens are credited with teaching mankind how to deal with death; when Cain slew Abel, a raven showed Adam and Eve how to bury the body, because they had never done so before.

Now, to all this we add that the big boys are all lined up in the heavens above, for MAXIMUM EFFECT ON THE EARTH BELOW.

In Norse mythology, the Vikings believed that the northern lights A GIFT FROM THE GODS. They celebrated this celestial display, interpreting it as a sign that their god Odin had sent the Valkyries (female warriors) riding on horses through the skies to retrieve the souls of fallen warriors. These souls would then be taken to Odin’s Hall, Valhalla.

According to some Nordic legends, the northern lights were also associated with fallen soldiers. They believed that the aurora was the breath of warriors who had died in battle. In other tales, the aurora represented the “Bifrost Bridge,” leading fallen warriors to Valhalla.

Sister of the Sun and Moon:

In Greek mythology, the term “aurora borealis” is derived from the Greek language. “Aurora” means “sunrise,” and “boreas” means “winds.” The character Aurora was the sister of the sun god (Helios) and the moon goddess (Selene). She would fly across the sky in a colorful chariot, signaling the start of a new day. Thus, the northern lights were associated with the dawn and the beginning of a fresh cycle.  They believed these messengers were telling humanity that something significant and consequential was about to happen.

Again, just how many SIGNS AND WONDERS do people need?

I believe that we are being forewarned, but also, we are being told, that there is a GREATER HAND GUIDING AND PROTECTING US.

North American indigenous tribes:

The Cree Indians believe that the northern lights are the spirits of the departed trying to communicate with their loved ones still on Earth.

The Algonquins associate the aurora with a fire built by their creator, Nanahbozho, as a reminder that he watches over them.

On remote Nunavik Island, tales describe the aurora as walrus spirits playing ball with a human skull. ~ space.com, theaurorazone.com, and auroracourses.eu 

The aurora borealis (northern lights) were visible as far south as Florida and Switzerland in the northern hemisphere while the aurora australis (southern lights) showed up as far north as New Zealand!

 

 At this point, how anyone wouldn’t see the enchanting, mystical, and spiritual world trying to wake us up to the POWERFUL GIFT OF LIFE WE ARE BLESSED WITH AND FURTHER, TO TAP INTO THIS MYSTICAL SPIRITUAL LIGHTS WITHIN US THAT ARE BEING MIRRORED AND ACTIVATED IN SPECTACULAR FASHION ABOVE.

What a SACRED PRIVILEGE AND GIFT we are all being given!

Night-Sky Empress Illuminates Manna From Heaven

Ezekiel 2:6 But you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns surround you, and you dwell among scorpions. Do not be afraid of their words or dismayed by their presence, though they are a rebellious house.

On Tuesday, May 7^th at 11:21 PM EDT The night sky Empress is her darkest as she joins the solar ambassador at 18*02’ TAUrus the BULL, one of the FIXED CROSS signs. 
We can quickly see that this ties back to the Total Solar Eclipse that was at 19* Aries, in semi-sextile (which is not exactly comfortable) and I view inconjuncts and these semi-sextiles like a plug that one grasps for and can’t quite plug it in for the POWER to surge through the wires.
This still makes for an EARTHY grounding for that potent eclipse energy, which we will be seeing the WAVES AND RIPPLES from for the next 6 months and even up to a year from now.

There was a lot that took place in the darkness of that eclipse.

Hopefully, you did your part, praying, lighting candles, etc. to mitigate the shadow work.

Recall that eclipse was also exactly conjunct Chiron, bringing up old wounds, even from lifetimes ago.  You may have had dreams that brought up the past, symbolism, friends show up from the past, anything that rang the bell for you, as the slideshow played, frame by frame, for your review and healing.

Things might have made sense in ways that just didn’t add up before, or the gnawing feeling that something just wasn’t right, but not exactly what.
Hopefully, now you have made some peace, and find yourself a bit more whole, or even a more connected and stronger version now in TAUrus.

Even the Sabian Symbol for this new moon, puts this perspective on this:

I keep seeing pictures of the Russian Nesting Dolls, indeed, we all can keep going deeper inside our own MYSTERY, until alas, we find that INTEGRAL SELF, the one buried like an old car in the barn.

Shine her up, and crank that starter, you might just find that TAUrus will bring you some LUXURY, especially as this also taps into the recent Jupiter/Uranus conjunction that perfected on April 20^th at 21*49’ TAUrus.

We all know that A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) is making deeper and deeper incursions into our lives, taking over more tasks, jobs, airwaves, etc.
We also see brilliant ideas and inventions, some stellar, great gifts to humanity, at least at this point.  Some, perhaps not so much and it concerns me too.

Mostly, I just want to see us more spiritually connected during this process.

These two meet up every 14-years in their dance together. This can help us find the gold, and again, we tap into OUR VALUES.  We have that equation we’ve given so many times now, ‘how much TIME do you want to give up or exchange for VALUABLES?’

This new moon also forms a lovely sextile back to 17* Saturn in PIsces.

That can give us some added substance and SCAFFOLDING to actually build the firmament, like the bones of the body to attach some muscles and nerves to, so BRILLIANT AND ELECTRIC URANUS can easily find directed pathways for that LIGHTENING that both Uranus, and grandfather of Jupiter are known for.
Here we have Jupiter, ruler of the left brain and traditional ruler of PIsces and Uranus, the messenger god that connects the two hemispheres for that advanced thinking, the AHA!
Mercury has stationed direct and is now at 21* Aries is re-igniting that eclipse energy too, gathering the INTEL and bang on Chiron also at 21* now, so it is primo time for healing and bringing the message.
We also have Neptune at 29* PIsces who is only 6 degrees of separation to Mars at 05* Aries, birthing that new spiritual energy, after their recent fusion of energies on April 29^th at 28*52’ PIsces, so clearing out that anoretic urgency, ACTIVATING the past again, and our SPIRITUAL HIGHER ORDER AND CONNECTION.  This also brings up the MIDDLE EAST dilemma, just as the Total Solar Eclipse and our spiritual origins are all tapping into our past, ORIGINS ~ GENESIS.
What agreements have you returned to, what depth have you plumbed, what unfathomable journey have you returned from to see a brilliance that emanates from those very depths?  Do you now see why you have taken the path you are traversing?

This can bring both introspection and extraversion as we bring the outside in and the inside out.  The doors may swing open out of the blue, as surprises generated from Uranus being blown up and expanded by Jupiter has lit the fuse and the daisy chain of unexpected events and activities, even surprise gifts and announcements both from deep within your soul and on the world stage, continue to ILLUMINATE the PATH we didn’t even know existed at times.

Jupiter will find his way into Gemini on May 25^th where he will burn up the communication wires, and put urgency into the mix, out of solid and steady, if not somewhat reticent TAUrus.
The lights turn green and the petal to the metal will have people picking up and traveling on a moment’s notice, as well as following through on previous plans or trips that were postponed.

Pluto at 2* Aquarius, began to station retrograde on May 2^nd, and will return to the Cardinal signs when he enters Capricorn for one last time (in any of our lifetimes, btw) on September 1^st.

You see, as the Angels/Messengers/Stars that rule ABOVE, dance in the heavens, they make WAVES that move us BELOW.  There is a reason all the great minds of the past and civilizations create the GUIDANCE SYSTEMS IN STONEWORK, PYRAMIDS, STONEHENGE, even the VATICAN, that directly mirrors the stars guiding us from above.
